Chinese, Russian hackers targeted Europe drug regulator

Last year A Russian intelligence agency and Chinese spies were behind cyberattacks on the European Medicines

Agency (EMA).De Volkskrant from Dutch newspaper  reported, citing sources close to the investigation into the breach.

The Chinese gained access using hacking the systems of a German university, the newspaper quoted sources as saying, the Russians are alleged to have exploited flaws in the European Medicines Agency's two-step verification login and other types of cyber defence.

The sources  De Volkskrant told, The Russian hackers had access more than a month to the EMA's systems.

The newspaper added, They were mainly interested in which countries would use the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech and how much they would buy.

In this cyber attack the European Medicines Agency's initial disclosure that documents relating to their vaccine were accessed in the incident.
